2013-08-13— /travelprnews.com/ — From January to July Estonian Air carried altogether 326 064 passengers, out of which 322 154 on regular flights. In July Estonian Air carried 50 806 passengers, out of which 50 267 on regular flights.
“Comparing to 2012, the year of enlargement of the operations, we are planning to carry less passengers by one third,” commented Jan Palmér, the CEO of Estonian Air. The turn-around of the company has been successful during the first half of the year, which is also recognized by our passengers.”
In the first seven months of the 2012, Estonian Air carried 515 719 passengers, out of which 92 134 in July.
In the first seven months Estonian Air operated 6 487 flights, out of which 863 flights in July, which is 42.5% and 52% less than last year accordingly. The amount of passengers decreased 37% within the first seven months and 45% in July compared to last year, which is a result of less flights and flight destinations.
During the seven-month period the actual amount of passengers was slightly behind the prognosis of the restructuring plan – during the spring period the number was somewhat modest but catched up in June and July. At the same time the average yield per passenger was above the prognosis which results in being in line with planned revenue. All in all it looks like we have chosen to continue operations on the right routes from Tallinn, where the demand is high enough for a sustainable and profitable airline operation,“ added Palmér.
In the first seven months the regularity of Estonian Air flights was 99.5%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The 15-minute punctuality was 90.1%, an increase of 7 percentage points compared to the same period last year. In July the regularity and punctuality were 99.1% and 94.2% respectively.
Every small country on the periphery of Europe depends on reliable and regular air connections, and Estonian Air is committed to providing these services. The mission of Estonian Air is to provide Estonia with double daily connections to destinations of strategic importance.
