(PRESS RELEASE) LUTON, 2025-May-15 — /Travel PR News/ — easyJet is expanding its maintenance facilities at London Luton Airport with the opening of a new hangar, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s continued growth in the UK. This new hangar, which is set to begin operations in 2026, will create more than 30 new skilled jobs in Luton and serve as a hub for easyJet’s apprenticeship training program, allowing for the addition of up to 40 new apprentices annually.
The facility will not only provide enhanced engineering and maintenance capacity to support easyJet’s growing fleet but will also become home to a state-of-the-art Engineering and Maintenance training campus. This campus will feature custom-built training facilities and workshops, further expanding easyJet’s long-standing apprenticeship scheme and nurturing the next generation of aviation engineers.
This new hangar will house more than 130 employees, who will oversee the airline’s aircraft maintenance activities and join easyJet’s existing engineering operations at Luton, Gatwick, and Liverpool. The expanded facility will play a crucial role in supporting easyJet’s fleet of over 355 aircraft, 190 of which are UK registered. The airline’s UK fleet will grow by seven additional aircraft this summer, marking its largest-ever UK summer season.
By operating 24/7, the new hangar will enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs by bringing more of the airline’s maintenance functions in-house. This will allow easyJet to maintain its industry-leading operational performance and maximize productivity.
Brendan McConnellogue, easyJet’s Director of Engineering and Maintenance, said: “The opening of this new hangar in Luton is essential to support our continued growth in the UK and will play a key role in helping us maintain an industry-leading operational performance as we integrate modern, fuel-efficient aircraft into our fleet. This facility will provide exciting career opportunities for engineers while reinforcing our commitment to investing in skills development.”
In support of this expansion, easyJet is launching a dedicated engineering recruitment campaign, which is now live. The campaign will feature a range of exciting roles, including positions for licensed engineers and aircraft mechanics. Apprenticeship recruitment for the new training campus will open in October 2025, providing a path for aspiring engineers to begin their careers in aviation maintenance with easyJet.
