CVG Receives $17.6 Million Grant for Runway Work

2012-08-08 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded a $17.6 million grant to CVG to improve a runway and taxiway, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Monday.

The funds will be used to rehabilitate a 10,000-foot runway and 1,800-foot taxiway, both of which are more than 20 years old. The total project cost is $23.5 million. The Kenton County Airport Board will fund $5.9 million of the project.

Work on the project is scheduled to begin Sept. 1 and be completed Dec. 15, 2013. CVG has three additional runways that will remain open during construction.

“Investing in our nation’s airports promotes economic growth,” LaHood said. “This funding will help the airport make critical repairs to aging infrastructure and keep aircraft moving safely and efficiently through Cincinnati.”
