Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Donates to NAACP on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Powell, OH, 2023-Jan-10 — /Travel PR News/ — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will be honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by donating a portion of proceeds to the Central Ohio branch of the NAACP in honor of Dr. King’s profound work.

With each paid admission, $1 will be donated on January 16, 2023 during Zoo operating hours (10 a.m – 4 p.m.). The standard parking fees ($10 per vehicle; free for Zoo members) will still apply.

“The historic contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King carry on in the work of NAACP, whose mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion,” said Columbus Zoo and Aquarium President and CEO Tom Schmid. “As an organization dedicated to supporting inclusion and diversity ourselves, we are proud to partner with community organizations that foster a sense of empowerment and belonging in Central Ohio.”

While visiting the Zoo on January 16, guests will have plenty of winter experiences to enjoy. Many animals are visible from the comfort of heated, indoor shelters, including Discovery Reef, Manatee Coast, Congo Expedition, the Reptile Building, the habitats at Vanishing Giants, Adventure Cove/Jack Hanna’s Animal Encounters Village, and the Naomi Coyle Dempsey Quest for Enlightenment Interpretive Center in the Asia Quest region. Additionally, many animals are also fans of the colder temperatures, such as those living in the North America region like the polar bear and cougars, who are particularly playful during the winter months.
