Chicago, Il, 2014-5-13 — /Travel PR News/ — With the running season upon us, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) invites you to “Save the Date” for two exciting 5K events at Chicago’s airports later this year.
On Sunday, September 21, 2014, the CDA and Southwest Airlines will host the second annual “Midway Fly Away 5K” at Midway International Airport, to benefit Chicago’s Children’s Charities and the athletes of Special Olympics Chicago. Participants will have a unique opportunity to run on the world’s busiest square mile with the excitement of planes taking off and landing on the airfield. More than 700 runners, walkers and aviation enthusiasts participated in last year’s inaugural event and many more are anticipated this year.
On Sunday, October 5, 2014, the CDA and United Airlines will host a 5K run at O’Hare International Airport benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. Back by popular demand, O’Hare’s “Run on the Runway” provides participants with an up close and personal view of one of the world’s busiest airfields. Last year more than 3,400 participants came out to for the memorable and extraordinary experience which included kids’ race and community day festival.
Both 5K races are family-friendly events designed for all ages and abilities. Each offers a truly unique race course, amazing photo opportunities, cool gear, entertainment and great food.
