Celebrate 50 Years of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in West Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, 2025-Jun-18 — /Travel PR News/ — Put on your fishnets, grab your feather boas and don’t forget the toast—The Rocky Horror Picture Show is turning 50 this year! The cult classic that taught generations to dance the Time Warp, embrace the absurd and celebrate self-expression. It has become a staple of midnight movie screenings and Halloween festivities worldwide.

First released in 1975, Rocky Horror has become the longest-running theatrical release in film history. It has gone from midnight movie oddity to a global phenomenon, and there’s no better place to commemorate this golden milestone than in West Hollywood, a city synonymous with vibrant nightlife and LGBTQ+ culture. Its legacy is due to legendary music producer Lou Adler, who brought the film to America and gave it a permanent home at the Roxy Theatre on Sunset Strip.

West Hollywood is set to host a series of events that pay tribute to this iconic film. Details are to be confirmed but visitors can expect an array of events including:

Live at The Roxy: 50th Anniversary Shows
A full weekend of screenings, shadow casts and surprise celebrity cameos are planned at The Roxy—where it all began. Expect wild performances, audience call-backs and a Time Warp marathon like no other. More details set to come.

Rooftop Screenings & Costume Nights
Venues such as the Rooftop Cinema Club are due to host open-air viewings featuring where guests can enjoy themed nights with prop bags, sing-alongs and Time Warp dance breaks—plus panoramic views of the LA skyline.

Drag & Dance Takeovers
Legendary West Hollywood bars such as Micky’s and The Abbey are set to present Rocky Horror drag shows, burlesque nights and all-night dance parties. Details to be confirmed.

Interactive Installations on Santa Monica Blvd
Public art, photo opportunities and tribute murals are set to pop up throughout the city, making West Hollywood a living museum of Rocky Horror history.
