British Safety Council awards AGS Airports a three-airport standout in health and safety excellence

(NEWS) ABERDEEN, Scotland, 2025-Dec-1 — /Travel PR News/ — AGS Airports is marking a major milestone after Aberdeen International, Glasgow and Southampton airports were each awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour by the British Safety Council, one of the highest accolades achievable in the field of workplace safety. The recognition comes on the back of all three airports achieving the maximum Five Star Rating earlier this year during the Council’s intensive audit process, a benchmark that evaluates operational processes, ongoing risk management and workplace safeguards.

The Sword of Honour is reserved for organisations that demonstrate exceptional standards in safety culture and compliance across all areas of operation, with only a select number of facilities meeting the required criteria annually. Each airport received a ceremonial sword during an event in London, symbolising the achievement and tradition behind the award. Southampton Airport also secured an additional sector win in the transport, distribution and storage category, standing out among industry peers for its commitment to wellbeing, environmental management and overall safety excellence.

The recognition underscores AGS Airports’ ongoing investment in safer working environments for passengers, staff and partners. Roger Hunt, Chief of Staff at AGS Airports, highlighted the dedication behind the award, noting that the accolade reflects the unwavering professionalism of teams across the network. Peter McGettrick, Chairman of the British Safety Council, described the result as a testament to AGS Airports’ consistency and high-level commitment, acknowledging the discipline required to maintain such standards year-round.

With three Swords of Honour awarded simultaneously, AGS strengthens its position as an airport group setting the benchmark for health and safety frameworks within the UK aviation sector.
