British Airways to increase frequency to Santiago and Washington D.C this winter

LONDON, UK, 2018-Apr-26 — /Travel PR News/ — British Airways is making the longest of long haul flying even easier and increasing the number of flights to Santiago and Washington D.C this winter.

From October 28 the airline will boost the number of flights to the Chilean capital from four-per-week to five and will be adding three flights a week to its Washington Dulles schedule, giving customers even more options on these routes.

An additional three flights a week will be added to the current two-a-day schedule to the US capital from October 29. There will be three daily flights on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with return fares starting from £385 per person.

Flights from Terminal 5 to Santiago currently operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the additional service will leave on Sundays. All flights are served by the airline’s newest aircraft, the four-cabin Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Sean Doyle, Director of Network and Alliances, said: “We are pleased to be offering our customers an even better flight timetable this winter. Our direct service to Santiago launched in January 2017 and has since proved incredibly popular with a whole range of flyers; from leisure travellers looking for adventure, exploration and experiences, to business travellers working in the region.

“The additional Washington flights reconfirm our commitment to offering our customers even more choice between the UK and the US, and the launch of our new Nashville service on May 4 will bring the number of cities we serve direct in the US up to 26.”

From this summer British Airways and American Airlines will operate up to 67 daily flights, as part of their transatlantic joint business.

The airline offers the only direct flight between London and Chile, which is British Airways’ lengthiest long-haul route, taking 14 hours 40 minutes. Return fares start from £739 return. As always, customers can choose to cut the cost of flights by using Avios part payment. They are able to pick from a range of savings by destination and cabin while still collecting Avios and Tier Points on their bookings.**

British Airways is investing £4.5 billion for customers over the next five years, including the installation of the best quality WiFi and power in every seat, fitting 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors and taking delivery of 72 new aircraft. The airline is also investing £600m specifically in Club World, including outstanding catering and luxurious White Company bedding – plus, from 2019, a new seat with direct aisle access.
