British Airways Adds Third Daily Flight from Washington Dulles to London for Summer 2025

Leaders welcome announcement of record capacity coming in 2025

Starting March 30, 2025, the airline will increase its flights from 14 to 21 per week, offering three daily flights for the spring and summer seasons. This move aims to meet the rising demand for international travel, particularly ahead of major events in Washington, D.C., such as WorldPride 2025. The new flight will be operated with a Boeing 787-8, while the existing two daily flights will continue using the Boeing 777-200ER and Airbus A380.

Starting March 30, 2025, the airline will operate three daily flights for the spring and summer season, boosting its weekly flights from 14 to 21.

This expanded service will include a new daily flight using the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, while the airline will continue to deploy the Boeing 777-200ER and the Airbus A380 on its two existing daily flights. The move is aimed at meeting increased demand for travel between the two cities during the peak season and is expected to bring additional capacity just in time for major events in Washington, including WorldPride 2025.

Chryssa Westerlund, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, welcomed the announcement, stating, “The United Kingdom is our largest international air market, and this expanded capacity with British Airways will provide a valuable new option for travelers during the peak summer period.”

Elliott L. Ferguson, II, President and CEO of Destination DC, emphasized the importance of this expansion for tourism, adding, “The UK remains a priority market for Washington, D.C., tourism, and the increase in flights will boost visitation and provide more opportunities for travelers to explore our iconic landmarks.”

British Airways Chief Planning and Strategy Officer Neil Chernoff expressed the airline’s enthusiasm for the additional service, noting, “We are thrilled to offer travelers more options to explore London and Washington with this increase in daily flights.”

Washington Dulles and British Airways share a long-standing partnership, including milestones such as the first commercial Concorde flight to the U.S. in 1976 and the introduction of Airbus A380 service in 2014. British Airways flights are estimated to contribute $178 million annually to the local economy.
