(IN SHORT) IHG Hotels & Resorts has launched a LINE MiniApp in Japan, enabling users to search and book stays at over 6,600 IHG hotels worldwide, register for IHG One Rewards with a single click, and manage loyalty accounts without exiting the LINE app. The MiniApp also allows integration of partner rewards from Rakuten and ANA Mileage Club. This initiative highlights IHG’s commitment to digital innovation and leverages LINE’s 90 percent penetration among Japanese users aged 13–79. CEO Abhijay Sandilya emphasizes the importance of meeting travellers on their preferred platforms. To promote the launch, IHG released exclusive LINE stickers available until 25 August. IHG’s official LINE channel, upgraded in April 2024, now boasts over 1.4 million followers.

LINE, a leading communication app in Asia, serves 195 million monthly active users across Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, and beyond. In Japan alone, more than 90 percent of residents aged 13–79 use LINE for daily messaging and digital services.

With the IHG LINE MiniApp, Japanese guests can:

  • Join IHG One Rewards Instantly: Sign up for the loyalty programme in one click, leveraging LINE credentials for swift registration.
  • Manage Membership Easily: View account balances, check elite status, and redeem points—all within the MiniApp interface.
  • Integrate Partner Points: Link and utilise points from Rakuten and ANA Mileage Club, consolidating rewards under one roof.

This launch marks a key advance in IHG’s digital strategy, consolidating hotel booking, loyalty management, and exclusive promotions into a single, familiar channel for Japanese consumers.
