Belfast, Northern Ireland, 2017-Oct-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Pupils at a Bangor Primary School are celebrating with the arrival of their new eco garden, thanks to support from George Best Belfast City Airport.
The financial support from the airport’s Community Fund, alongside the work of dedicated volunteers, has transformed the children’s play area from a concrete space with overgrown hedges to an interactive and engaging eco playground.
Julie-Anne Mullally, Foundation Stage Leader at St. Comgall’s Primary School, Bangor, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled with our new eco playground in the school, our pupils love it so much it’s hard to get them back into class!
“The playground has seen a massive change and the children are so engaged in the various elements. From the recycled plant tyres, to the wishing well, to the water and soil areas, the children love exploring and learning about the environment as they play.
“We can’t thank our volunteers, PTA and Belfast City Airport enough for all their help and support. This installation would not have been possible without their help, and St Comgall’s Staff and Pupils are so grateful.”
The school is the latest organisation to receive support from Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund which, now in its eighth year, has provided over £350,000 of financial support to local community groups, projects, schools and charities.
Paula Bittles, Executive Assistant at Belfast City Airport, said:
“Belfast City Airport is delighted to be able to work with St. Comgall’s Primary School on its new eco playground. The hard work has paid off so far, and the change is incredible, I am so impressed with the new space.
“Supporting young people within our local community and enhancing their wellbeing is a key objective of the airport, as is promoting positive environmental initiatives to improve knowledge of looking after the area around you. This playground is a brilliant combination of school and environmental support, and we are thrilled that the pupils have got so involved in the space.”
