(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON 2025-Jun-23 — /Travel PR News/ — Arriva is investing £9.7 million to introduce a fleet of 30 cutting-edge, low-emission buses on its Busway network, significantly improving services to London Luton Airport (LLA). These state-of-the-art vehicles will provide seamless, sustainable links between the airport and nearby communities including Luton, Dunstable, Houghton Regis, and surrounding areas.
Under the upgraded Busway timetable, passengers can expect buses every 7–8 minutes on the core LLA–Dunstable–Luton corridor, along with round-the-clock Service A and Service Z operations. Additional routes—A, H, L, X2/X3 and Z—will offer frequent departures from early morning until after midnight, seven days a week, directly connecting more neighbourhoods to the airport terminal.
This partnership bolsters LLA’s sustainability strategy by reducing road congestion and lowering emissions, while offering travellers a dependable alternative to private cars. The new Euro VI–compliant buses feature fully low-floor access, next-stop audio-visual announcements, ergonomic seating, and USB charging points to ensure a comfortable journey.
“Arriva’s bus network underpins the daily operation of LLA, where over 60 percent of our staff live locally,” said Andy Martin, Surface Access Development Manager at London Luton Airport. “A reliable, high-quality service is vital for both our workforce and passengers. Enhancing public transport connectivity supports our long-term vision for sustainable growth.”
Matt King, Arriva’s Network Manager, added: “This isn’t simply a bus replacement programme—it’s a transformation of public transport standards in the Luton area. We’ve tailored routes, frequencies, and amenities around customer needs to make bus travel the easiest and greenest option, whether you’re commuting, shopping, or flying.”
