(NEWS) CHICAGO, 2026-Feb-3 — /Travel PR News/ — Hyatt’s lifestyle brand Andaz has opened a new flagship property in Shanghai, with Andaz Shanghai ITC welcoming its first guests from 3 February 2026 in the historic Xujiahui district. Based on details shared in official announcement, the hotel forms part of the landmark ITC Xujiahui complex and is positioned as a design-led urban destination that blends contemporary luxury with references to Shanghai’s architectural and cultural heritage.
The 267-room hotel is conceived around a “bringing outside in” design narrative, intended to evoke a vertical interpretation of a traditional Shanghai neighbourhood. According to official project information, designers drew inspiration from the city’s historic laneways, European-style low-rise buildings and the evolving skyline, weaving these motifs through public spaces, corridors and guest rooms. The main entrance on the third floor features a glass-brick wall and moss-toned textures reminiscent of old Shanghai alleyways, while the primary check-in area on the 14th floor reflects a similar interplay between past and present.
Guest accommodation ranges from 45 square metres to a 147-square-metre Executive Suite, with all rooms offering floor-to-ceiling views across Xujiahui. Official descriptions highlight a residential-style layout, with customised craftsmanship, free-standing wardrobes guiding guests toward spa-like bathrooms, and varied door designs to reinforce a domestic rather than institutional feel. Rooms are equipped with modern in-room technology, premium Simmons mattresses and Byredo’s Eleventh Hour amenities, curated specifically for the Andaz brand.
Beyond accommodation, Andaz Shanghai ITC introduces three dining and drinking concepts intended to appeal to both hotel guests and local residents. The Rooftop Bar, positioned as a social hub, serves tea-infused cocktails alongside views of the city skyline. West Wing operates as a European-Shanghainese deli and wine bar with a vintage aesthetic, while East Wing functions as an all-day dining venue offering breakfast, lunch and classic Shanghainese dishes in the evening, complemented by private dining rooms and an outdoor terrace.
Wellness facilities follow the hotel’s overall design ethos, with a gym conceived as an intimate, club-like space rather than a conventional fitness centre. The property also participates in the World of Hyatt loyalty programme from opening, with a time-limited New Hotel Member Offer available for stays between 10 February and 2 May 2026, including daily breakfast and bonus points for eligible members.
Located in one of Shanghai’s most commercially dynamic and historically significant districts, Andaz Shanghai ITC is positioned as part of Hyatt’s broader expansion of its lifestyle portfolio in key urban markets. According to official communications, the opening underscores the brand’s strategy of creating locally inspired, design-forward hotels that serve as cultural gateways as well as accommodation.
Andaz Shanghai ITC arrives as part of a broader phase of expansion for Hyatt’s Andaz brand within its Lifestyle Group. Hyatt is steadily rolling out Andaz in strategically important urban and leisure markets, including plans for Andaz Nagoya, which is slated to open after 2034 as part of a major redevelopment of Meitetsu Nagoya Station. The hotel will form part of a new transport-led mixed-use landmark, reinforcing Andaz’s preference for architecturally distinctive, culturally rooted locations. Elsewhere, the brand has been growing its presence in key lifestyle destinations, with the 2025 opening of Andaz Miami Beach — its Florida debut — and the forthcoming Andaz Gold Coast in Australia, which will mark the brand’s first entry into the Australia–Pacific region. Together with established properties such as Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills, these developments underscore Andaz’s strategy of pairing locally inspired design with globally minded hospitality as it continues to expand across major cities and resort destinations worldwide.
With Andaz Shanghai ITC now open in one of the city’s most dynamic heritage districts, the brand further strengthens its foothold in Greater China while reaffirming its commitment to creating hotels that feel both deeply local and distinctly contemporary — a balance that continues to define Andaz’s global growth.
