Nuremberg, Germany, 2016-Aug-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Starting on August 1st Wizz Air launches new direct flights from Nuremberg to Sofia. Further expanding the Hungarian airline’s existing offering from Nuremberg and complementing successful routes to Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Skopje Wizz Air is now operating direct flights to Bulgaria’s capital city. The launch is to be closely followed by the inauguration of a fifth route to Sibiu later in August.
The first Wizz Air flight from Nuremberg to Sofia took off on August 1st at 4 p.m. To highlight the occasion Albrecht Dürer Airport has invited the Erlangen-Nuremberg based Bulgarian folklore dance troupe “SamoDivi” to the airport. The dance troupe showcased classic folk dances, handed out Baniza, a typical Bulgarian pastry, and imbued the departures hall with a touch of Sofia’s multi-faceted flair.
“Since Wizz Air began operations from Albrecht Dürer Airport in October 2014 they have followed a course of continued expansion. The existing Wizz Air flights from Nuremberg are very popular and we envisage that this will also be the case with the new flights to Sofia. The majority of current passengers are travelling for leisure reasons although the numbers of business passengers taking advantage of the convenient non-stop flights to Eastern Europe are also increasing”, says Dr. Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg.
Wizz Air is operating flights to Sofia twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. Fares start at € 14,99 (including taxes and fees).
“We are thrilled to celebrate today the commencement of another attractive WIZZ route from Nuremberg. Wizz Air now offers five low fare services to 3 Central and Eastern European countries from Albrecht Dürer Airport and we are confident that our Bavarian customers will enjoy visiting Sofia, a dynamic Eastern European capital that preserves many valuable monuments to its long and storied past. Furthermore, Sofia is renowned for its beautiful scenery and a developed ski-resort in Vitosha mountain close to the city. Seats on our new Nuremberg service can be booked from just €14.99 on wizzair.com. Our friendly crew looks forward to welcoming you on board a WIZZ flight with a smile”, says Gabor Vasarhelyi, Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz Air.
On August 19th the Hungarian airline will increase their network by offering a further non stop route by offering three flights a week from Nuremberg to Sibiu/Hermannstadt in Romania. This boosts the Wizz Air network to five routes out of Nuremberg.
