Premiere of the Airevents Flight Academy on 5th September 2015
BERLIN, 2015-6-22 — /Travel PR News/ — What keeps a 70-ton Airbus in the air? How efficient are aircraft? What happens in the event of a storm or turbulence? The Airevents Flight Academy will answer these and other questions on 5th September 2015 at Berlin Tegel airport. Airevents and airberlin will offer Academy participants an extraordinary insight into the “fascination of flying”. The programme is aimed at aviation fans, young and old, amateur and expert alike.
The popular science approach is intended to increase the enthusiasts’ awareness of the peculiarities of aviation. The programme is divided into theoretical and practical sections. During the first part, captains will briefly explain aircraft design, navigation, take-off and landing, along with specific manoeuvres. The subsequent practical element starts with an exclusive visit to the airberlin hangar. Airevents Flight Academy participants will obtain unique insights into the Technology division, which usually remains hidden from passengers.
But the best is left til last! During a special flight in an Airbus A319 operated exclusively for Academy participants, this theory will be put into practice. “This is a unique flying experience. Various flight positions and manoeuvres will be undertaken, such as climbing, descending and turning, and explained by the pilots live from the cockpit. Even rarely practised manoeuvres will be performed, such as the intentional go-around”, said Manuel Kliese, Managing Director of AirEvents Limited. AirEvents and airberlin have been collaborating for over seven years, organising special flights to the North Pole and the recent solar eclipse, for example.
“Conveying the phenomenon of flying during such a compact and exciting event is a great experience– a sure highlight for any aviation enthusiast. If it proves successful, we can also envisage running the Academy at other airberlin locations, such as Dusseldorf and Munich”, said Aage Dünhaupt, Senior Vice President Communications airberlin.
