airberlin and Finnair expand codeshare cooperation

2012-08-17 — /travelprnews.com/ — airberlin and its oneworld® partner Finnair are building on their current codeshare cooperation and expanding in markets in Scandinavia and the Middle East. In combination with an airberlin or a Finnair flight to Helsinki, from now on flight guests can book a connecting flight operated by Finnair from Helsinki to Tallinn, Turku, Tampere and Oulu with airberlin. By expanding the existing codeshare agreement, airberlin can offer its flight guests domestic flights in Finland as well as from Finland to Estonia for the first time. The travel period starts from 28th October 2012.

Flight guests from Finland are able to book airberlin flights with a Finnair code from Oslo, Gothenburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen to Berlin, and from Copenhagen to Dusseldorf. Finnair is also adding its code to airberlin-operated daily flights from Dusseldorf and Berlin to Abu Dhabi.

“Right from the beginning, the codeshare cooperation with our oneworld partner Finnair is developing very well for both of us, especially the routes between Germany and Helsinki. We are happy to offer our flight guests the first-time opportunity to book a domestic flight in Finland as well as to Estonia and thus, to book flights within an extended Nordic route network,” says Paul Gregorowitsch, Chief Commercial Officer of airberlin.

“We are very pleased with the growing cooperation with airberlin, our oneworld partner,” says Paavo Virkkunen, Vice President Alliance Affairs at Finnair. “This deepening of our codeshare arrangements helps us enhance our route network in the Nordic countries and build feeder traffic through our Helsinki hub.”

Since 2010, Finnair and airberlin have been codesharing on flights between Finland and Germany and to points onward in Italy and Austria. airberlin and Finnair are members of the airline alliance oneworld.
