(PRESS RELEASE) DELHI, 2026-Feb-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Air India has unveiled its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3 in Delhi, introducing a premium space that blends Indian heritage with contemporary design as part of the airline’s broader transformation strategy. The lounge was inaugurated by N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, ahead of welcoming its first guests.
Spanning approximately 16,000 square feet within the international pier of Terminal 3, the Maharaja Lounge is designed to host nearly 300 travellers. The facility is divided into two distinct areas: a Business Class zone and a dedicated First Class enclave branded “Air India First,” each offering tailored environments suited to different travel preferences. Access will be progressively extended from 16 February 2026 to First and Business Class passengers, Maharaja Club Platinum and Gold members, and eligible Star Alliance Gold travellers.

The lounge incorporates several themed areas that reflect Air India’s history and global outlook. The Aviator’s Bar pays homage to the airline’s founding era, referencing J. R. D. Tata’s 1932 Karachi–Bombay flight, with design elements inspired by the Puss Moth aircraft. The Globetrotter’s Study provides a quiet workspace equipped with curated reading materials, connectivity and charging facilities, while the Serenity Area features enclosed recliners for passengers seeking rest before departure.
Within the First Class section, the Crystal Bar serves premium beverages and signature cocktails in an environment influenced by refined Indian motifs, and dedicated Sleep Suites allow travellers to relax in privacy prior to long-haul journeys.
The Delhi flagship marks the first in a planned portfolio of next-generation lounges to be introduced at major airports in India and globally. The initiative underscores Air India’s ambition to deliver a world-class travel experience while maintaining a distinctly Indian identity at the heart of its service offering.
