ADAC re-opens access roads to Abu Dhabi International Airport

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2013-05-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — On 27th May 2013, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) re-opened the access roads to Abu Dhabi International Airport, enabling travelers to enter Terminals 1 and 3 from the upper curbside as per the pre-construction period.

ADAC had previously announced that these access routes would be diverted for 60 days; however, the related construction project at the Capital’s airport was completed ahead of schedule and the main routes to the departure and arrival gates at Terminals 1 and 3 will no longer be diverted.

The road closure and diversion facilitated construction of the new travelers’ tunnel and arrivals hall.  Once completed, the tunnel will connect the terminal buildings to the arrivals hall, enabling travelers to access parking, taxis and limousines just 20 metres away from the customs lounge, versus the current distance of 140 metres.

The construction of this tunnel and the expansion of the arrivals hall are vital components of the airport’s Capacity Enhancement Plan, which is focused on ensuring the airport is best equipped to handle anticipated growth in passengers, increasing the terminals’ capacity to 20 million and bridging the gap until the Midfield Terminal opens in 2017.

ADAC would like to thank all passengers and guests for their understanding during the route diversion.
