ACI announces 2016 Young Aviation Professionals Programme participants

Montréal, 2016-Mar-02 — /Travel PR News/ — Participants representing three continents arrived in Montréal last week to begin taking part in the Young Aviation Professionals Programme (YAPP), a special initiative organized by Airports Council International (ACI), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The 12-month annual programme is open to candidates who have advanced university qualifications and a minimum of two years professional working experience in aviation-related regulatory activities, and/or the air transport industry. Due consideration is also given during the selection process to gender and geographic diversity.

Ms. Haiqing Wan from China, Mr. Pierre-Ludovic Guymar from France and Mr. Abul Kekilbayev from Kazakhstan were selected for 2016 YAPP participation from among over 500 global applicants.

The selected candidates will be expected to contribute to each organization’s work programmes related to aviation safety, air navigation capacity and efficiency, air transport economics or aero-political issues, with attention to inter-relationships among ACI, ICAO and IATA. Each Young Aviation Professional will be guided throughout the programme by a subject-matter expert from each of the organizations.

“The sustainability of the industry depends to a large extent on ensuring that we have a strong pool of future professionals running the world’s airports, and these Young Aviation Professionals will be solid proponents of the community of airports and the importance of forging industry partnerships,” said Angela Gittens, Director General, ACI World. “This programme aligns with our suite of Global Training courses, offered both in classrooms and online, and especially the Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme (AMPAP), another successful collaboration between ACI and ICAO.”

The invitation for applications for the 2017 YAPP selections is expected to be announced in early September 2016.
