A New Chapter For Hilton Surfers Paradise

Hotel Announces New General Manager As David Kelly Departs For China

SURFERS PARADISE, QLD, Australia – 2012-12-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — Hilton Surfers Paradise has officially appointed Chris Partridge to the role of general manager following the announced departure of the hotel’s founding general manager, David Kelly.

David will depart the hotel bound for Beijing where he will take on the role of regional general manager, North China.

According to David, during his time on the Gold Coast he is pleased to have seen a fundamental change in the destination’s landscape.

“It has been a privilege to be part of the opening of Hilton Surfers Paradise, a landmark project which continues to lead the way in terms of innovation and sophistication.

“Combining the energy of Surfers and the style of Hilton has resulted in a spectacular outcome. Leading into the peak season, demand for our product is at an all time high, and we can again predict solid growth for the region as a result.

“Our hotel has performed exceptionally well in 2012, often out performing our competitors, and early signs are already very positive for 2013. I am also very proud to have led the hotel to its first major award accolade, the 2012 Hotel Management ‘Best New Hotel’.

“Facilities such as Salt grill by Luke Mangan, FIX Bar, The Food Store delicatessen, eforea: spa at Hilton, and a combination of Hilton Residences and guest rooms at the hotel, all demonstrate the progressive nature of our business.

As a former member of the Surfers Paradise Alliance Board, David believes the Gold Coast, in particular Surfers Paradise, has welcomed a fresh level of appeal.

“The foreshore redevelopment, Cavil mall upgrade, High Street Retail, Soul and Hilton Surfers Paradise are all fantastic reasons for locals and visitors to rediscover Surfers Paradise.

David will continue to be part of the phenomenal growth journey of Hilton Hotels & Resorts in coming years, taking on a portfolio of eleven hotels in Northern China.

“I can confidently say the development rate in China is unparalleled anywhere around the globe, and I again have the opportunity to be part of something exciting and unique.

Current general manager of Hilton Auckland and Hilton Lake Taupo, Chris Partridge, will commence in his new role at Hilton Surfers Paradise prior to Christmas. Chris’ impressive career with Hilton Worldwide spans 23 years including time in London, Sydney, Melbourne and most recently New Zealand.

“Hilton Surfers Paradise is a destination unto itself. I am delighted to be able to continue the hotel’s success into 2013 and beyond,” he says.
