KLM Finalises Long-Haul Fleet Renewal as Last Boeing 787 Dreamliner Enters Service

(IN SHORT) KLM has taken delivery of its 28th and final Boeing 787 Dreamliner, completing a fleet of 13 787-9s and 15 787-10s that will form the backbone of its long-haul operations for years ahead. Since introducing the first Dreamliner more than a decade ago, KLM has steadily expanded the fleet to combine efficiency, passenger comfort, and modern cabin design. With all Dreamliners now featuring Premium Comfort Class and the arrival of the final aircraft “Krokus,” the airline has reached a key milestone in its fleet modernisation strategy, positioning itself for long-term operational reliability and an enhanced customer experience.

(PRESS RELEASE) AMSTELVEEN, the Netherlands, 2026-Jan-30 — /Travel PR News/ — KLM has completed the renewal of its long-haul fleet with the delivery of its 28th Boeing 787 Dreamliner, marking the final addition to its Dreamliner programme. The newly arrived aircraft, named “Krokus,” brings the airline’s Dreamliner fleet to full strength and reinforces KLM’s long-term commitment to operating a modern, efficient, and passenger-focused widebody fleet.

KLM introduced the Dreamliner to its fleet more than a decade ago with the arrival of its first Boeing 787-9, “Zonnebloem.” Since then, the fleet has steadily expanded to include 13 Boeing 787-9s and 15 Boeing 787-10s, reflecting the airline’s strategy to combine operational efficiency with enhanced onboard comfort. The larger 787-10 variant joined the fleet in 2019 with the delivery of “Oranjebloesem,” arriving just 100 days before KLM celebrated its centenary.

The Boeing 787-10 stands out within the fleet for its smart and spacious design, larger windows, and quieter cabin environment, all of which contribute to a more comfortable passenger experience on long-haul routes. The Dreamliner has also become a recognisable symbol of KLM’s fleet modernisation, with a miniature version of the aircraft on display at Madurodam since 2016.

As part of ongoing cabin enhancements, all KLM Dreamliners have been equipped with Premium Comfort Class since last winter. This cabin offering provides passengers with additional legroom, improved seating comfort, and a dedicated catering concept, bridging the gap between Economy Class and World Business Class and responding to growing demand for enhanced travel options.

With the arrival of “Krokus,” KLM now operates a complete and future-ready Dreamliner fleet designed to serve passengers reliably for decades to come. The completion of the programme represents a significant milestone in the airline’s fleet strategy, supporting more sustainable operations while delivering consistent comfort and quality across its intercontinental network.
