New Premium Flagship® Lounge and Admirals Club® Expansion Elevate Miami International Airport Experience

(IN SHORT) American Airlines will nearly double lounge capacity at Miami International Airport by constructing a new Flagship® lounge and expanding Admirals Club® facilities. The current 2017 Flagship® space will convert into an enlarged Admirals Club®, while the new Flagship® location will offer luxury perks like champagne welcomes and chef-crafted menus. Following the successful PHL Terminal A West lounge rollout, the MIA venues will include distinct zones for relaxation, dining, and privacy, all enhanced by local art, high-speed Wi-Fi, and work-friendly amenities. Heather Garboden and Juan Carlos Liscano highlighted the project’s importance to customer experience and Miami’s status as American’s primary gateway. Access will remain available through existing membership programs, elite status, or day passes.

(PRESS RELEASE) FORT WORTH, TX, 2025-Jun-26 — /Travel PR News/ —American Airlines is set to significantly expand and enhance its premium lounge offerings at Miami International Airport (MIA). The airline will build a brand-new Flagship® lounge and augment its Admirals Club® footprint, nearly doubling the total lounge space available to travelers. Specific construction timelines and additional details will be shared in the coming months.

“We’re thrilled to raise the bar for our Flagship® customers and create more open, serene environments in our Admirals Club® lounges,” said Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer at American. “Working alongside airport and county partners, we’ve identified solutions to elevate every aspect of the lounge experience.”

Currently, American operates three lounges at MIA: an Admirals Club® at D15, and both Flagship® and Admirals Club® lounges at D30. Under the new plan, the existing Flagship® space (opened in 2017) will be converted into a larger Admirals Club®, while a purpose-built Flagship® lounge—offering champagne greetings, regionally inspired cuisine, and à la carte dining—will rise elsewhere in the terminal.

This expansion follows the debut of a combined 25,000-square-foot Flagship® and Admirals Club® complex at Philadelphia International Airport’s Terminal A West in May, American’s fifth Flagship® and ninth overall premium lounge worldwide.

Mirroring the PHL design ethos, the MIA lounges will feature distinct “neighborhoods” tailored to diverse traveler needs:

Lounge Area: Plush seating zones for relaxation and recharging

Bar and Dining: Social and collaborative settings with full-service bars and chef-driven menus

Villas: Private spa-like shower suites, quiet workstations, and family-friendly rooms

High-speed Wi-Fi, ample charging stations, and real-time flight displays will support productivity, while curated local art and upscale finishes will infuse each space with Miami’s unique cultural flair.

“After more than 30 years of investing in Greater Miami, this milestone underscores our role as Miami’s hometown airline,” said Juan Carlos Liscano, Vice President of MIA Operations. “Serving over 30 million customers annually through 400 daily flights to more than 160 destinations, we’re committed to offering lounges that feel like a true extension of the city’s vibrant hospitality.”

American remains the largest private employer at MIA, with over 14,500 team members, and recently launched new service from MIA to Rome (FCO). The airline’s 2025 summer schedule from Miami is its largest ever, further cementing its status as the region’s leading carrier.

Lounge access at MIA is available via Admirals Club® memberships, qualifying oneworld® status, the Citi®/AAdvantage® Executive Card, or by purchasing day passes (24-hour Admirals Club® for $79 or 7,900 miles; single-visit Flagship® for $150 or 15,000 miles). AAdvantage® Platinum® elites and oneworld® Emerald/Sapphire members traveling internationally in Flagship® cabins enjoy complimentary Flagship® lounge entry.
