(PRESS RELEASE) MELAKA, Malaysia, 2025-Jun-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Dusit International has officially entered the Malaysian market with the grand opening of Dusit Princess Melaka, its first property in the country, celebrated on 29 May 2025. Strategically located in the heart of Melaka’s UNESCO World Heritage City, the 296-room hotel introduces Dusit’s signature Thai-inspired hospitality to one of Southeast Asia’s most culturally rich and fast-growing tourism hubs. This significant launch not only enhances Melaka’s luxury hotel landscape but also bolsters the state’s aspirations to emerge as a premier regional destination ahead of UN Tourism 2025 and Visit Malaysia 2026.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, Governor of Melaka, and attended by dignitaries including Her Excellency Ms Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, and Mr Mohamad Bukhari bin Che Man, Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC), State of Melaka. Executives from Dusit International and the Melaka Tourism Board (MTB) were also present for the traditional ribbon-cutting.

With visitor arrivals to Melaka surging past 15 million in 2024 – a 74% year-on-year increase – Dusit Princess Melaka is perfectly timed to meet growing demand from both business and leisure travellers. Its launch supports the extended Visit Melaka Year campaign and aligns with Malaysia’s nationwide tourism strategy, which targets 35.6 million tourist arrivals in 2026.

Designed to blend contemporary elegance with local heritage, Dusit Princess Melaka offers guests unobstructed views of the Straits of Melaka and cityscape. Signature Thai-inspired service and upscale amenities elevate the guest experience, including the state’s deepest swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre, and curated culinary venues such as Zest Restaurant, Long Feng Chinese Restaurant, and the stylish Famosa Lounge.

The hotel also introduces one of the largest and most technologically advanced meeting and event spaces in the region. Spanning 774 sq m, the multifunctional venue features full LED screen capabilities and flexible room layouts, catering to major conferences, weddings, and private events. The hotel’s positioning as a MICE destination further enhances Melaka’s appeal for international events like UN Tourism 2025.

Guests are also invited to engage in thoughtfully curated local experiences that highlight Melaka’s unique cultural and culinary heritage, creating a meaningful connection with the destination.

“Dusit Princess Melaka opens at a crucial moment for the tourism sector,” said Mr Mohamad Bukhari bin Che Man. “With its rich offering and trusted global brand, the hotel contributes meaningfully to our broader goal of building a modern, inclusive and responsible tourism hub in Southeast Asia.”

Mr Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International, added: “This debut marks a major milestone for Dusit as we bring our Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to Malaysia. Melaka’s history, strategic location, and ambitious development plans make it the ideal launchpad for our brand.”

Since its soft opening, Dusit Princess Melaka has earned Best Hotel for Business Travellers – Malaysia and Excellence in Regional Hospitality – Malaysia at the 2025 International Business Magazine Awards, affirming its appeal to discerning guests.

To celebrate its grand opening, the hotel is offering a limited-time “Melaka Retreat” package, which includes daily breakfast at Zest, a MYR 50 daily F&B credit, complimentary room upgrades (subject to availability), and an additional 15% off for Dusit Gold members.
