(PRESS RELEASE) SAN ANTONIO, TX, 2025-Apr-24 — /Travel PR News/ —San Antonio’s culinary scene is about to get even more flavorful. Chef Johnny Hernandez has announced a new collaboration that unites two cherished local favorites—his own Burgerteca and the Southside staple, Blue Moon Mexican Restaurant. This exciting partnership will bring Blue Moon’s beloved home-style Mexican cooking to the heart of Southtown, inside the familiar walls of Burgerteca, beginning in mid-May.
The Garcia family, who own and operate Blue Moon Mexican Restaurant, will be co-hosting this new venture alongside Chef Hernandez. Guests can expect a welcoming, casual experience blending Blue Moon’s signature breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections with Burgerteca’s bold favorites—such as bacon-wrapped hot dogs, specialty burgers, comforting mac-n-cheese, and Chef Johnny’s famous Caldo Xochitl and menudo.
Open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the reimagined space at 403 Blue Star St., Suite 105, under the Big Tex Silos, will continue to offer a full bar and lively atmosphere. Meanwhile, Blue Moon’s original location on S. Flores Street will remain open, allowing loyal fans to continue enjoying their neighborhood favorite while introducing new audiences to the magic of their menu in Southtown.
“I’m incredibly proud to partner with my neighbors, the Garcias, and bring Blue Moon to Southtown,” said Chef Hernandez. “Their restaurant is a personal favorite of mine, and our new collaboration is a celebration of family, heritage, and the community spirit that defines San Antonio.”
This flavorful union is only the beginning. Chef Hernandez also revealed that Burgerteca, Southtown Coffee, and his former Fruteria will come together in 2026 as part of the forthcoming Southtown Food Hall—a vibrant destination that will highlight San Antonio’s cultural diversity through food, drinks, music, art, and retail.
“The Southtown Food Hall will be a community hub where friends, families, and neighbors gather to enjoy the best our city has to offer,” Hernandez explained. “It will reflect the creativity and warmth that make Southtown unique.”
Until then, San Antonians can look forward to a delicious fusion of two local culinary institutions starting this May—where comfort food meets cultural celebration in an inviting space that feels like home.
