(PRESS RELEASE) Male’, Maldives, 2025-Feb-11 — /Travel PR News/ — The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) has launched an exciting new initiative, “Visit Maldives Week,” which is set to promote the Maldives as a premier travel destination to the Russian market. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to engage with the Russian audience, bringing together 22 representatives from 14 different companies within the Maldivian tourism industry. Over the course of the week, the event will take place in three major Russian cities: St. Petersburg (February 3), Moscow (February 5), and Tyumen (February 7).

This roadshow marks the first of several global events planned throughout the year, aimed at major and emerging tourist markets. It is designed to provide a platform for tourism stakeholders from the Maldives to forge new partnerships, strengthen existing ones, and share the latest information about the destination. The event will feature interactive photo zones, showcasing the beauty of the Maldives’ islands and properties, as well as a media meet in Moscow where travel trade media and press representatives will receive tailored destination insights. Additionally, a “Maldives Passport” initiative with interactive questions offers attendees a chance to win prizes.

The roadshow will also facilitate B2B meetings, networking sessions, and destination workshops, fostering valuable connections while promoting the Maldives to Russian travelers. Attendees in St. Petersburg will have a chance to win a 2-night full-board stay at Canareef Resort Maldives, including return transfers for two people.

Looking ahead, the Visit Maldives team is planning a variety of activities targeted at the Russian market, including webinar series, partnerships with tour operators and airlines, public relations projects, media familiarization trips, and collaborations with Destination Management Companies.

The Maldives continues to see growing interest from Russian tourists, with the country being the second-largest source market for arrivals in 2024. January 2025 saw 20,902 arrivals from Russia, reinforcing its importance as a key market for the destination. Visit Maldives is confident that these roadshows will enhance the Maldives’ appeal and further solidify its position as a top travel destination for Russian visitors.
