The Makena Beach & Golf Resort’s February Winery of the Month celebrates Banfi Vinters

featuring a five course wine dinner with special guest host Richard Rossi

Wailea-Makena, Hawaii – 2013-02-08 — /travelprnews.com/ — Following a successful inaugural January event, for the February edition of the resort’s Winery of the Month series, the Makena Beach & Golf Resort honors Banfi Vintners. The resort will be hosting a special five-course dinner featuring Banfi Vintners with special guest host, Western Regional Director, Richard Rossi. The special wine dinner will be held on Thursday February 21, 2013 at 6:30 PM at the Molokini Bar & Grille.

The wine dinner will pair the internationally acclaimed wines of Banfi Vintners with a special five course menu designed by the resort’s executive chef, Chef Marc McDowell. Richard Rossi the Western Regional Director for the company, will be on hand to lend his 20 years of wine expertise while sharing the tradition behind the Mariani family’s continued pursuit of excellence in wine making.  Menu items and pairings include:

San Angelo Pinot Grigio with

Pinwheel Heirloom Tomato Lobster Salad

Roasted hearts of palm, avocado, Maui onion, mango, blueberries, vanilla oil, Asian oil, and passion fruit vinaigrette

Castello Banfi Belnero with

Seared Ahi Foie Gras

Caramelized onions, arugula balsamic black currant demi-glace

Banfi Chianti Classico with

Roasted Duck Breast

Sweet potato with crisp pork gratin, port poached white asparagus, Tokyo turnips, plum chutney, Meyer lemon and sugar cane demi

Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino with

Calotte “Best Steak in the World”

The cap of the Rib eye seared and thinly sliced Royal Trumpet Mushrooms, Savory Cabbage and Banyuls Veal Reduction.

The dinner is offered at $100 per person, not including tax or gratuity. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Credit card information needed to secure the reservation.

For the month of February, the Makena Beach & Golf Resort Winery of the Month celebrates Banfi Vintners. This five course dinner is part of the Makena Beach & Golf Resort’s new Winery of the Month Series.  The series features a distinguished wine cellar or importer every month with specials on the cellar’s wines and a multi-course wine dinner featuring the winery’s wines. For the month of February, the resort celebrates Banfi Vintners wines offering a three flight tasting with all of Molokini Bar & Grille’s weekly restaurant specials. Last month, the Makena Beach & Golf Resort honored Cakebread Cellars with a five course dinner with special guest host Dennis Cakebread.
