Russian guest at Anantara Kihavah Villas Maldives donated for health and educational infrastructure of the village
Maldives, 2014-1-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — Due to the unexpected generosity of a Russian guest at Anantara Kihavah Villas, the inhabitants of the Kudarikilu island will receive a five thousand US dollar cash injection in the health and educational infrastructure of the village. The contribution details are currently being discussed between the resort authorities and island committee.
With its 535 inhabitants and a total area of 0.137 km2 (0.053 sq. mi), Kudarikilu is the only inhabited island of the Baa Atoll being a biosphere reserve and a representative of the Maldives’ remarkable diversity of reef animals, stony and soft corals, fish species, marine turtles, manta rays and whale sharks. The island was badly affected during the Asian tsunami of 2004 and many houses were either destroyed or badly damaged by flood surge.
