Harry Reid International Airport introduces AI-powered system to display real-time security wait times
(NEWS) LAS VEGAS, 2025-Aug-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) has introduced an AI-powered system that provides travelers with real-time security wait times, marking a major step forward in streamlining the passenger experience at one of the nation’s busiest airports. The new system uses artificial intelligence to track passenger flow at security checkpoints and calculate accurate wait times, which are then displayed on flight information screens throughout the terminal. In addition, the system informs passengers about the availability of TSA PreCheck lanes and alerts them when specific checkpoints are closed.
Currently deployed in Terminal 1, the technology is set to expand into Terminal 3 in the coming weeks, with a further phase planned to make estimated wait times accessible through the airport’s official website. The initiative is designed to provide travelers with greater transparency and peace of mind, helping them plan their time at the airport more effectively.
The project forms part of a broader series of passenger-focused upgrades at Harry Reid International. Other initiatives already in motion include a digital parking reservation system and the installation of new escalators aimed at easing passenger movement within the terminals. Together, these investments reflect LAS’s commitment to leveraging technology and infrastructure improvements to enhance efficiency and elevate the travel experience for millions of visitors to Las Vegas each year.
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is making major strides in both safety and passenger convenience, with recent upgrades spanning from behind-the-scenes emergency response to front-facing customer service. Alongside the introduction of an AI-powered system that calculates and displays real-time security wait times for travelers, the airport has also invested in two new state-of-the-art Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) trucks. Funded through a $3 million federal grant, the trucks feature 4,500-gallon water tanks, thermal imaging for locating fires and individuals in low-visibility conditions, and fluorine-free foam to reduce environmental risks. Together, these advancements highlight how LAS is pairing innovative technology with cutting-edge safety infrastructure to deliver both a more secure and a more seamless travel experience for millions of passengers.
