Halifax, N.S., 2015-10-23 — /Travel PR News/ — Glen Boone has been appointed Director of Real Estate and Commercial Development at Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA), effective November 9, 2015.
In this new position, Mr. Boone will be responsible for matters related to real estate and commercial development. The primary objective of this role is to attract and retain land lease tenants and to optimize the revenue of Halifax Stanfield’s real estate portfolio by developing and maintaining long-term, sustainable tenant relationships.
Mr. Boone will report directly to Ian Arthur, who was recently appointed Chief Commercial Officer, effective November 2, 2015. The Chief Commercial Officer’s role is to optimize revenue from both aeronautical and non-aeronautical sources.
Mr. Boone brings a wealth of property development expertise with over 27 years experience in both the public and private sectors having worked for the Nova Scotia government as well as a number of municipal governments including HRM and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Mr. Boone was also the Director of Real Estate and Development for the Sobeys Group, a Real Estate Planner for the Crombie REIT and most recently, the Store Development Manager in Atlantic Canada for Starbucks Coffee.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Glen to Halifax Stanfield and our HIAA executive management team,” says Joyce Carter, HIAA President & CEO. “I am confident Glen’s extensive property development knowledge will complement our commercial development team as they focus on the development of our airport property and our non-aeronautical revenue.”
Glen has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, with a concentration in Rural and Small Town Planning.
“I am very much looking forward to contributing to the airport’s real estate and commercial development strategy,” says Mr. Boone. “Halifax Stanfield is a driving economic force for the region and the commercial development of the property will continue to propel its growth.”
