Chicago Bike Week presented by the City of Chicago and Goose Island Beer Company to take place on June 12-19 as part of Bike Chicago 2015

CHICAGO, 2015-4-29 — /Travel PR News/ — The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events is pleased to announce the schedule for Chicago Bike Week presented by the City of Chicago and Goose Island Beer Company, taking place June 12–19 as part of Bike Chicago 2015.

Throughout the week, the benefits of bicycling in Chicago – whether to work, for leisure or for fitness – will be promoted through various free events including a downtown bike tour, a movie night in Millennium Park, a bike-centric urban adventure race, a bike fashion show and the Bike to Work Rally on Daley Plaza. 32nd Annual Chicago Blues Festival

Grant Park – SE Corner of Monroe St. and Columbus Dr.

Help kick-off Chicago Bike Week by biking to Blues Fest; the parking’s on us! Cyclists are encouraged to bike to the festival in Grant Park and enjoy the complimentary Kickstart by Mountain Dew Bike Valet. Bike Commuter Challenge

In 2014, this week-long event attracted over 6,000 participants from 650 Chicagoland companies and organizations. Participation is easy! You don’t have to bike all the way every day – biking to your local bus or train stop counts. Meet other bike commuters all week at more than 40 events around the region. South Loop Bike Tour, led by Chicago Neighborhood Bike Tours

Meet at Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park

Bike Chicago Film: Napoleon Dynamite (Rated PG, 96 min.)

Don’t miss this quirky, offbeat 2004 comedy featuring the socially-awkward, yet endearing, teenage Napoleon as he helps his new friend win the class presidency in their small-town high school while dealing with his eccentric family life at home. Two Wheels, One City Ride: Celebrating Chicago’s Diversity on Bicycles

Meet at Daley Plaza – 50 W. Washington St.

A Slow Roll Chicago Wednesday evening ride created especially for Chicago Bike Week in partnership with Active Transportation Alliance and the Chicago Cycling Club. Cyclists of all levels and backgrounds are encouraged to join this ride highlighting Slow Roll Chicago’s work to create a diverse and equitable bicycle culture. Riders will meet at Daley Plaza at 5:30pm and depart at 6pm for a journey through the Loop, Pilsen and surrounding neighborhoods, finishing back at Daley Plaza at 8:30pm. Thursday, June 18

Chicago Triathlon Checkpoint Challenge

Meet at Millennium Park’s Cloud Gate, aka “The Bean”

6pm

Chicago’s first ever, bike-centric adventure race! Participating cyclists will receive a set of clues, identifying the location of several checkpoints throughout the city. Cyclists will earn points as they traverse the city, snap photos and complete various challenges. Participants will then reconvene in Millennium Park at 8pm for awards, raffle prizes, complimentary Goose Island beer (ages 21 and over) and the Downtown Sound Concert at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Bike Fashion Show and Pop-up Shops

The runway meets the street in this fashion show and pop-up sale spotlighting the hottest biking and sportswear brands for men and women from some of Chicago’s very own designers and boutiques. Browse the pop-up shops and enjoy one of the City of Chicago’s most popular Farmers Markets.

 

Friday, June 19

Bike to Work Rally

Daley Plaza – 50 W. Washington St.

The week’s festivities culminate on Friday, June 19, from 7 to 9am at the Bike to Work Rally presented by the City of Chicago and Goose Island Beer Company on Daley Plaza (50 W. Washington). Join thousands of cyclists for camaraderie and a FREE continental breakfast provided by 7-Eleven. All cyclists will also receive a FREE T-shirt as well as use of the valet bike parking compliments of Kickstart by Mountain Dew.
