(NEWS) LONDON, 2025-Nov-5 — /Travel PR News/ — The Maldives has entered World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025 with strong momentum, underscoring another year of remarkable growth in the UK travel market. According to Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), the destination welcomed 159,615 visitors from the United Kingdom as of 21 October 2025 — an increase of more than 16% compared to the same period last year. The UK now accounts for 8.8% of all arrivals, placing it firmly in third position among the Maldives’ top source markets.
Leading the Maldives delegation at ExCeL London, Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim highlighted the importance of the UK market, describing it as “an integral part of the Maldives’ tourism success story.” The minister is joined by 160 representatives from 70 tourism companies, including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and travel agencies. Spanning 650 square meters, the Maldives stand offers 46 co-exhibitor counters, 55 meeting tables, and three industry zones aimed at maximizing trade discussions and networking opportunities.
In a nod to its partnership with Liverpool FC, the Maldives pavilion features a dedicated Fan Zone alongside an Interactive Zone that uses holographic displays to showcase the archipelago’s marine life and coral ecosystems. The exhibition design reflects the nation’s ongoing strategy to blend cultural engagement with immersive experiences that capture the essence of the islands.
VMC CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said the UK’s continued growth demonstrates the success of strategic partnerships and promotional initiatives, including a two-month taxi campaign in central London featuring 100 branded cabs. “Our marketing efforts and collaborations keep the Maldives top-of-mind for British travelers seeking unique, experience-led holidays,” Shiuree said.
The Maldives’ strong showing at WTM London comes as the country surpasses 1.85 million total tourist arrivals for 2025, consolidating its reputation as one of the world’s most desirable destinations. With ongoing investments in targeted marketing and sustainable tourism, the Maldives continues to build lasting ties with key international markets while reaffirming its image as a global luxury travel leader.
