Tourism Australia’s CMO Nick Baker named as Australian Marketing Institute’s Marketer of the Year for 2014
SYDNEY, 2014-10-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Tourism Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, Nick Baker, was honoured by his industry peers last night (Thursday23 October), being named as the Australian Marketing Institute’s Marketer of the Year for 2014.
In bestowing the award – which acknowledges long-term service and achievement in the marketing sector – the AMI paid special tribute to Nick for his delivery of a series of outstanding campaigns, including There’s Nothing Like Australia, Best Jobs in the World and, more recently, Restaurant Australia.
They also highlighted the contribution he’d made to best practice in customer engagement and content marketing.
“The Institute is thrilled to recognise Nick’s enthusiasm, passion and significant contribution to the marketing profession. It is fitting and a testament to his dedication that he has received further accolades from the AMI,” said Lee Tonitto.
Mr Baker said that to receive such recognition from his peers was ‘very special’.
“It is a great honour for me and for the great team here at Tourism Australia that fuels our work. I am lucky enough to work with such a great brand with a great story crying out to be told, as part of an organisation that has quickly transformed itself under some great leadership to be a fast paced, agile innovator, and with a team that I am proud to say are some of the best in the industry.
“I am never going to be able or good enough to put on the green and gold for the country nor am I likely to ever receive an Oscar but to be recognised by your peers for the work the team and I do is wonderful, very special,” Mr Baker said.
The award comes just days after Mr Baker announced his decision to leave Tourism Australia, which he will be doing at the end of January 2015.
