The Port Authority announceS the appointment of Edward Cetnar as the new Superintendent of the Port Authority Police Department

New York, NY, 2018-May-15 — /Travel PR News/ — The Port Authority today announced the appointment of Edward Cetnar – the agency’s Deputy Superintendent of Police since November 2014 – as the new Superintendent of the Port Authority Police Department.

Mr. Cetnar replaces Michael Fedorko, who announced his retirement last week after serving as Port Authority Police superintendent since 2009.

In his new role, Mr. Cetnar will oversee the safe, efficient and secure operations at the Port Authority’s bridges, tunnels, bus terminals, airports, rail and seaport facilities and the World Trade Center complex. As superintendent, he will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of agency-wide security policies and strategies.

During his tenure as Deputy Superintendent of the PAPD, Mr. Cetnar oversaw the security operation for the visit by Pope Francis to the World Trade Center and his arrival and departures from JFK Airport. He was responsible for the day to day management of PAPD operations in New York and New Jersey. He also oversaw the PAPD’s Special Operations Bureau, the Port Authority Police Academy, the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Counterterrorism and the Intelligence Operations. He is a former New Jersey State Police Lieutenant Colonel.

Mr. Cetnar, whose appointment took effect on May 10, joined the Port Authority following a 27-year career as a New Jersey State Police commander. At the time he left the State Police, he was serving as Deputy Superintendent of Operations. In that position, he was in charge of all operations and investigative activities of approximately 1,600 State Troopers in New Jersey. His responsibilities included oversight of 29 duty stations and specialty units throughout the state. He also oversaw security of critical infrastructure including the Statehouse, Atlantic City International Airport, MetLife Stadium, the Izod Center and Fort Monmouth.

Shortly before coming to the Port Authority, Mr. Cetnar served as the incident commander for the 2014 Super Bowl held at MetLife Stadium. In that role, he was in charge of coordinating security matters with the National Football League and law enforcement agencies around the region related to the major sporting event.

Mr. Cetnar holds a Master’s Degree from Seton Hall University where he currently serves as an adjunct professor. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and the United States Army’s Commandants 7th Strategic Studies Program.
