MOSCOW, Russia, 2018-Dec-07 — /Travel PR News/ — The results of the all-Russian vote to rename airports, headlined “Russia’s Great Names”, were announced on December 5. According to the voting results, the name of Russia’s greatest poet Alexander Pushkin will be added to the name of Sheremetyevo International Airport.
“Thousands of people on Sheremetyevo International Airport team approve of the voting results of the nationwide project “Russia’s Great Names” and is proud that our airport will include the name of Alexander Pushkin. The name of the great poet is not only meaningful to the Russian speaking people around the world, but is also the symbol of Russian literature for both Russian and global culture,” said Mikhail Vasilenko, the General Director of JSC Sheremetyevo International Airport.
“Beside providing the high level of services to passengers, one of our most important tasks is to also acquaint guests of the airport with the rich historical and cultural heritage of Russia. Different means are used to showcase content of Russian national heritage within the terminals, such as multiple multimedia screens, art objects, various exhibitions and cultural events. The widescreen digital panels in the new Terminal B are already broadcasting visuals of Russian “national wealth”: ballet performances, the clock on the Spasskaya Tower, museum expositions, historical sights and monuments. Coming soon is exciting video stories with very well-known characters or Pushkin’s literary works,” added Mikhail Vasilenko.
The name of Alexander Pushkin, the great Russian persona, will be added to the name of Sheremetyevo International Airport and will be the key element of airport’s national identity and embodiment of the great achievements of Russia. The name of the poet will be reflected in the architectural appearance of Sheremetyevo.
Sheremetyevo Airport will reveal the new name with the special plaques, which will be installed in the terminals. Within the new educational and cultural program, the literary soirees will be held in the History Museum of Sheremetyevo (Terminal F, floor 5), thematic photo exhibitions, lectures and performances acquainting Russians and foreigners with literary heritage of Alexander Pushkin will be arranged.
Passenger and guests of the airport will have a chance to enjoy – or introduce themselves to – the poems of Alexander Pushkin read by the actors of Moscow’s theatres within “Passenger’s Day” – a traditional New Year’s Eve celebration at the airport that will take place on December 20.
JSC Sheremetyevo International Airport brand identity elements will remain the same: brand name, trademark, service mark.
