The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium to participate in One Million Actions for Planet Earth

Powell, OH, US, 2014-1-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will be participating in One Million Actions for Planet Earth, a program that inspires people to share their green and sustainable activity on the myActions social platform. A collaboration with Arctic Action Teams (AAT), this program hopes that combined efforts from around the world will total one million actions by Earth Day.

“We are honored to be one of the first zoos involved in this innovative new program,” says Barbara Revard, Director of Program Planning at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. “We hope to show the community our commitment to conservation and sustainability.”

“What the world needs now more than anything else is hope, “ says Robert Buchanan, a renowned polar bear conservationist and founder of Arctic Action Teams with his wife, Carolyn. “The most effective way to develop hope is through individual action, and the best way to take action by far is myActions.org. “

Each action shared triggers virtual rewards, measures the real world impact of individual action, and generates a small donation to a person’s favorite of eight different zoo conservation projects including polar bears, gorillas and manatees.

“myActions is a platform where anyone can digitally share their real world green and sustainable actions to amplify their impact in a tangible way” says Kristine Sturgeon, President of myActions. “We are thrilled to be working with Columbus and other Ohio Valley region zoos on this groundbreaking program.”

Participants are already active on myActions—a Winter Challenge will run from Jan. 27 to Feb. 19, and a Spring Challenge from Mar. 31 – Apr. 20. Earth Week (Apr. 21-27) and Earth Day (Apr. 22) will be a celebration of the One Million Actions. To join, visit
