• Transport group has 12 finalists at national awards
  • Three Stagecoach employees in the running for top awards
  • Finalists in categories covering bus and the community, unsung heroes and young manager of the year

Perth, Scotland, 2017-Oct-17 — /Travel PR News/ — Transport operator Stagecoach is in the running for a host of top honours at the 2017 UK Bus Awards.

Britain’s biggest bus operator has 12 finalists, including three employees nominated in each the unsung heroes, young manager of the year and London bus driver of the year categories.

Winners will be announced at a London awards ceremony to be held in November.

Stagecoach Manchester has again been nominated as a finalist in the Top City Operator category which means that they are also in the running for the UK Bus Operator of the Year Award. They were previous winners of both awards in 2013.

Stagecoach East Scotland has been nominated as a finalist in the Top Shire Operator category and is also in with a chance of winning the UK Bus Operator of the Year title.

Three Stagecoach employees are shortlisted for awards at the event. Stagecoach Manchester’s Stuart Roughley is shortlisted in the Unsung Heroes category, while Mark Mageean, also from Stagecoach Manchester, is a finalist for the Young Manager of the Year Award and Tina Lee is nominated as Top London Bus Driver.

Stagecoach London’s Barking depot is in the running for the London Bus Garage of the Year award and Stagecoach East Scotland’s St Andrews depot is shortlisted  in the Top National Bus Depot category.

In the Making Buses a Better Choice category, Stagecoach Midlands has been shortlisted for its initiative to improve out of town employment sites in partnership with Liftshare.

The Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire team has been shortlisted for the Award for Sustained Marketing Excellence for its Lakes Connection 555 service. In the Marketing Initiative of the Year category, Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire is a finalist for its ‘Come on your red men’ campaign while Stagecoach East Scotland has been shortlisted for its Express City Connect network.

Stagecoach West Scotland’s Youth Express project has been named as a finalist for the Bus and Community Award.

Stagecoach UK Bus Managing Director for England and Wales, Mark Threapleton said: “It’s great to see so many of our companies and individual employees shortlisted for these awards. The nominations are thoroughly deserved and we wish them the best of luck at the ceremony.”
