Staff at Leeds Bradford Airport join coffee road-show to raise funds for When You Wish Upon A Star

2013-04-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — A pop-up coffee shop is coming to town on 15th April and will be raising money for a very good cause. Throughout the day, staff at Leeds Bradford Airport will be selling Lavazza coffee, other hot drinks and cakes outside the airport’s terminal, as part of a campaign to raise over £50k for children’s charity When You Wish Upon A Star. The money will be used to fly 50 sick children to Lapland to meet Father Christmas in December 2013.

The mobile coffee cart, which is operated by The Food Travel Experts SSP, (which operates restaurants and cafés in airports and stations), and is supplied by The Big Coffee Co., will be calling at Leeds Bradford as part of a tour of nine of the UK’s leading airports. This will begin at Leeds Bradford on 15th April, and end two weeks later at Luton.

Commenting on the tour, Mark Rainbow, SSP UK chief operating officer of said the coffee cart was certain to be popular with airport passengers. “People flying to and from Leeds Bradford Airport on Monday 15th April will not only be able to enjoy a great cup of coffee, but they’ll also be raising money for a truly worthwhile cause. With its cheeky Latin charm, our Italian-made PIAGGIO APE coffee cart is bound to put a smile on the faces of passengers at Leeds Bradford airport.”

Richard Aldridge, Commercial Performance Manager at Leeds Bradford Airport said; “We are delighted to be involved in the Big Coffee Challenge with our food and beverage partner SSP, supporting such a deserving cause as When You Wish Upon A Star. We hope our passengers are able to treat themselves and therefore help make a child’s dream of meeting Father Christmas come true. The coffee road show will have a prime location at the front of the terminal and I’m sure it will be a successful day at Yorkshire’s Gateway Airport.”

When You Wish Upon A Star is a charity founded to grant the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses and since its inception, has granted over 15,000 wishes. A highlight of the charity’s year comes each December, when it charters four planes to take up to 400 children to Lapland.
