Sydney, Australia, 2018-Nov-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, part of Marriott International today (11/16/2018) will kick off a week of celebrations at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park as it marks the completion of its $50 million-dollar transformation by owners Sunshine Insurance. With the refurbishment, the iconic Sydney hotel, previously known as Sheraton on the Park, will also receive the brand’s esteemed ‘Grand’ designation. Found in some of the world’s most treasured destinations, Sheraton Grand hotels are recognized for their iconic locations, cultivated sense of design, exceptional service, exemplary dining concepts and exquisite spa experiences.
“We are honoured to receive the coveted designation of Sheraton Grand,” said David Fraser, General Manager, Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park. “From the renovation of the rooms to all the public spaces, we wanted to set ourselves up for the future by ensuring the new design of the hotel reflects modernity but pays homage to its heritage. It is a wonderful testament to the exceptional level of service provided by our team.”
Embracing its 24 years of history in the community, Sheraton on the Park, now Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park, will be the fourth stop, on Sheraton’s global “Heart for the City” tour. This tour will travel to seven cities around the globe, showcasing some of Sheraton’s most iconic hotels, and the unique role these hotels play in their local communities and cities. The Sydney tour will highlight the city’s transformative history and also allow guests and locals to experience an immersive sensory journey inspired by the hotel’s renowned high tea service. Following a stone pathway through a tunnel of lush greenery, flowers and lights – reminiscent of a stroll through the neighbouring Hyde Park – visitors will emerge into a larger-than-life whimsical wonderland with a number of photo-worthy moments. Such moments include a floor-to-ceiling green wall, life-sized cups and saucers and a gigantic tiered cake stands of sweet treats. Sydney’s “Heart for the City” stop will also feature the Sheraton Transformation Room, where guests and locals will be immersed in a future vision of the Sheraton Hotels experience. Visitors will get a peek at the upcoming redesign of Sheraton via a dynamic projection mapping experience that demonstrates how the brand will utilize space redesign and curated amenities and services to enable gathering and productivity.
“Heart for the City” is a tour that celebrates communities and Sheraton’s role within them, featuring one-of-a-kind immersive experiences designed specifically for each destination. Each experience features fun and unique visual perspectives on local icons, places, and ideas central to the city’s identity. The tour includes complimentary community programming at the hotels, where brand partners, local businesses, and thought leaders will lead in-depth discussions and presentations in their areas of expertise. Each of the stops will allow guests and locals alike to gather, engage, and be entertained as they experience the city and the Sheraton hotel in a whole new way.
“Community is deeply rooted into Sheraton’s history. We are at the start of our transformation and through this tour, we are taking time to celebrate our global footprint and cement the brand’s position as The World’s Gathering Place,” said Indy Adenaw, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “We are committed to transform the brand, creating an atmosphere that not only is welcoming, but that is vibrant, relevant and brings people together.”
As a bustling cosmopolitan city, Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park will host a General Assembly workshop on November 17th for guests and locals alike. This is part of a new global collaboration with the education pioneer and Sheraton Hotels. General Assembly is a leading source for training and career transitions that fosters a flourishing community of professionals pursuing careers they love. Other local community influencers, including Archie Rose, Katherine Sabbath and Eugene Tan, will also be facilitating complimentary demonstrations and programming each day.
“Heart for the City” tour kicked off on August 30 with a 1,500 person grand opening event at the Sheraton Saint-Hyacinthe Hotel (Québec, Canada). Following the celebration of the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park Hotel on October 15, events will take place on the dates listed below:
