Seamless Journeys Await as Qatar Airways and Air Algérie Link Africa with Asia and Beyond

(NEWS) DOHA, 2025-Nov-3 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways has expanded its African network through a new codeshare agreement with Air Algérie, enhancing air links between Algeria and key destinations in Asia and the Middle East. The partnership, which takes effect for travel starting 15 November 2025, will give passengers from both airlines greater access to each other’s networks via Doha’s Hamad International Airport, one of the world’s leading global hubs.

The agreement builds on an existing interline partnership and marks an important step in Qatar Airways’ broader growth strategy across Africa. Under the new arrangement, Qatar Airways passengers will be able to connect beyond Algiers to six major Algerian cities — Annaba, Constantine, Oran, Tamanrasset, Timimoun, and Tindouf — through flights operated by Air Algérie. In return, the Algerian national carrier will offer its customers new travel options to major destinations such as Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Muscat via Doha. Plans are already underway to expand the codeshare to additional destinations in the near future.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, said the partnership reinforces the airline’s long-term commitment to Africa and its goal of enhancing connectivity across continents. “This collaboration will offer travellers greater choice and seamless access to the Middle East and Asia,” he said. “It also reflects our continued focus on building strategic partnerships that deepen global connectivity through Hamad International Airport.”

Air Algérie’s Head of Commercial Division, Samy El Karim Boutemadja, described the codeshare as a significant step forward for the Algerian airline, allowing it to expand its reach beyond traditional markets. “This agreement enhances Air Algérie’s presence in the Middle East and Asia, offering our customers new destinations while promoting Algeria as a key travel hub,” he said.

The partnership highlights both airlines’ efforts to strengthen economic and cultural ties between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Qatar Airways currently operates 213 weekly flights to 30 cities across 21 African countries, supported by 30 interline and six codeshare agreements. Air Algérie, which serves more than 80 destinations across four continents, carried nearly eight million passengers in 2024 and continues to invest in fleet and network expansion as part of its modernization strategy.

For travellers, the new codeshare offers a more seamless experience between Africa and Asia, expanding the options for business and leisure journeys across some of the world’s fastest-growing regions. As the partnership develops, it is expected to support trade, tourism, and closer cooperation between Doha and Algiers — reinforcing both carriers’ roles as vital connectors between continents.
