Novosibirsk, Russia, 2019-Sep-10 — /Travel PR News/ — S7 Airlines is successfully completing the “We Are Siberia” initiative and is returning to its current brand. In just one month, thanks to the active support from passengers and partners, the airline managed to raise funds for planting 1,000,000 trees in the regions of Siberia in order to replenish the forest lost in the fires.
On August 1, in order to draw attention to the issue of forest fires in its homeland, S7 Airlines temporarily returned to its historical name “Siberia Airlines” and started allocating money for tree planting from every ticket sold on its website or through its mobile application for flights to Siberian destinations.
S7 Airlines proposed to unite passengers and partners who cared about preserving the unique nature of Siberia. The planting of new forests in the region and protecting the forest in the future could be supported by transferring money or S7 Priority miles for tree planting on the s7.ru website.
A memorable symbol of the initiative is one of the Airbus A320 aircraft in the airline’s fleet, which will continue flying with a unique look, maintaining the historical inscription “Siberia” on its fuselage and an outline of a fir on its tail.
On September 13, 2019, S7 Airlines together with a partner of the initiative, the ECA interregional environmental organization, will carry out the first tree planting. More than 200 volunteers, including S7 Airlines employees, will plant 5 hectares of trees in the Kochenevsky District of the Novosibirsk Region*. The next step will be the tree planting in the Irkutsk region, which will be held in October 2019.
1,000,000 trees will be planted within two years in the areas available for planting in the Siberian region. The progress of the project can be monitored on the s7.ru website. The website will feature photo reports as well as information on what areas and volumes are planted, what agricultural care is carried out for the trees that have already been planted, and how one can join the initiative as a volunteer.
“We Are Siberia” struck a chord with the passengers, members of the S7 Priority loyalty program, theater and movie actors, TV hosts, and popular bloggers. Inspired by the airline’s idea, Volac music duo from Irkutsk recorded a track “We Are Siberia,” which was first presented at the Alfa Future People music and technology festival.
S7 Airlines’s idea was appreciated by major Russian and international brands. Partners and friends of the airline provided active information support, inviting their clients to engage. A number of companies launched their own environmental projects aimed at improving the environmental situation in the region. The initiative “We Are Siberia” was implemented by joined forces of S7 Airlines, Yandex. Taxi, Tinkoff Bank, Unilever (Lipton, Chistaya Liniya, Lesnoy Balsam brands), Gogol Center, Winzavod, Likee, Promsotsbank, AK-Service, Слетать.ру, STORMAVTO, MAER GROUP, LafargeHolcim, VIP Service, and others.
S7 Airlines would like to express its sincere appreciation to everyone who joined the fundraising for reforestation in Siberia, not remaining indifferent to the protection of nature and getting involved.
