CHICAGO, 2013-09-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is ready to welcome travelers as the busy 2013 summer travel season draws to a close this Labor Day weekend.
Airlines at both O’Hare and Midway International Airports anticipate more than 1.2 million passengers to travel through the airports beginning tomorrow, August 30 through Tuesday, September 3. The busiest day at both airports will be Friday, August 30 with more than 211,000 passengers expected at O’Hare and nearly 73,000 passengers at Midway. Passenger volume at both airports is higher compared to the same holiday travel period in 2012.
“The Chicago Department of Aviation and our airport partners are ready to provide a best-in-class experience for millions of travelers who fly through Chicago’s airports this weekend,” said Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “As always, we will provide a safe and secure environment for travelers, as well as live musical entertainment to coincide with this weekend’s Chicago Jazz Festival.”
Passengers traveling through O’Hare and Midway will be treated to a taste of Chicago’s rich jazz heritage with live band and vocal performances on Thursday, August 29 and Friday, August 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Performances, which coincide with the City of Chicago’s 35th Annual Jazz Fest, take place at O’Hare in Terminal 1 in the baggage claim area; past security checkpoints in Terminals 2 and 3; and at Midway in the baggage claim area next to the information booth.
Concessionaires at both airports will be giving away free coloring books and crayons to children. Midway will offer complimentary lemonade to all passengers on Friday, August 30 and Tuesday, September 3.
