Bangkok, Thailand, 2018-Dec-13 — /Travel PR News/ — Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts, a division of Minor Hotels, is strengthening its presence in Tropical North Queensland, announcing it has acquired the freehold interest of the boutique resort QT Port Douglas and adjoining land.
In a deal brokered by CBRE, the 170-room resort – now called Oaks Resort Port Douglas – will present holidaymakers with Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ smart simplicity and spacious apartment accommodation in a coveted coastal destination, which is touted as the jewel in Tropical North Queensland’s crown.
Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels – Australia and New Zealand, Mr Craig Hooley, commented on the announcement.
“We are delighted to announce the successful acquisition of this quality asset, which will operate under the Oaks brand and forms part of our strategic direction to own and operate hotels that deliver a strong value proposition to both our guests and our investors.”
“Port Douglas is a key domestic market for us, and while we already have a strong presence in the region with sister property Oaks Lagoons, we see the two properties as each having their own unique offer and providing guests with diverse accommodation options from which to explore the region.
“The addition of Oaks Resort Port Douglas will perfectly complement our existing brand portfolio of 56 hotels nationally and we look forward to welcoming guests to this vibrant resort under our new management.”
Renowned for its laidback holiday charm, Oaks Resort Port Douglas is ideally positioned just a stone’s throw from Four Mile Beach and the tourist town’s most popular attractions.
Guests are just five minutes from Macrossan Street – Port Douglas’ shopping, wining and dining hub, as well as the sparkling marina and award-winning golf courses – which can all be accessed on the historical Bally Hooley train, which stops off right in front of the Resort.
For adventure seekers, the Resort is also just 20 minutes from sheltered swimming holes and easy walking tracks at Mossman Gorge; and just over an hour from the world’s oldest and heritage-listed rainforest, the Daintree. The Great Barrier Reef is easily accessible for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, with a number of local operators departing from Port Douglas daily.
Boasting an ocean-inspired setting, the Resort has been designed to reflect a tropical paradise that sets the scene for leisurely days spent swimming, sipping, indulging and relaxing in the heart of Port Douglas.
Featuring a combination of hotel rooms and one and two-bedroom apartments, all of which offer garden or pool views, the Resort appeals to a broad range of travellers, including singles, couples, families, conferencing and wedding groups.
Offering the convenience of Oaks signature self-contained facilities, one and two-bedroom apartments are equipped with king-size beds, kitchenettes, private balconies or courtyards, spacious lounge areas and deluxe furnishings; the quintessential ‘home away from home’.
Centred around a sprawling tropical lagoon pool with swim-up bar, the boutique resort property is a holidaymaker’s heaven, complete with an array of premium leisure facilities, including an indulgent day spa. The Resort is also home to a dedicated events, conferencing and wedding precinct.
Dining at Oaks Resort Port Douglas is an experience in itself. The onsite marketplace-style restaurant offers a relaxed, alfresco setting for breakfast and dinner, bringing together international flavours of the world for a mouthwatering culinary adventure. The adjoining cocktail bar also presents as the perfect spot to chill out with a cool beverage in hand and soak up the cosmopolitan vibes of one of Australia’s premier resort towns.
