Norwegian Cruise Line’s Giving Joy® Contest Celebrates Teachers with Free Cruises and Grand Prizes Aboard the Norwegian Luna™

(IN SHORT) Norwegian Cruise Line celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week by launching the Norwegian’s Giving Joy® program, offering 20 teachers free cruises and three Grand Prize winners the chance to sail aboard the Norwegian Luna™ during her Christening Voyage in Spring 2026. Nominations are open until May 31, 2025. In addition, NCL continues to support educators year-round with a special Teacher Cruise Discount.

(PRESS RELEASE) MIAMI, 2025-May-7 — /Travel PR News/ — In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5-9, 2025), Norwegian Cruise Line® (NCL) is excited to announce the return of its renowned Norwegian’s Giving Joy® program, recognizing and rewarding exceptional educators across the U.S. and Canada. This year, the contest will award 20 deserving teachers with a free three or four-day cruise, plus three Grand Prize winners will receive a vacation aboard the soon-to-debut Norwegian Luna™ during her Christening Voyage in Spring 2026.

From May 5 to May 31, 2025, the public can nominate certified or accredited educators by sharing heartfelt stories at www.nclgivingjoy.com. Nominations should highlight how the educator has made a lasting impact on their students and community, showcasing their passion for teaching, ability to overcome challenges, and creative approaches to education. The nominees will be evaluated by a panel of NCL leaders and partners.

The top 20 educators, selected by the panel, will receive a complimentary three or four-day cruise for two. The top three winners will also be invited to the exclusive christening voyage of Norwegian Luna, the sister ship to the highly acclaimed Norwegian Aqua™, setting sail from Miami in Spring 2026.

“We are incredibly proud to continue celebrating outstanding teachers through our Giving Joy program,” said David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line. “This year marks the sixth anniversary of the program, and we are thrilled to reward 20 remarkable educators with unforgettable vacations. We look forward to welcoming these deserving winners aboard our spectacular ships, with more ways to relax and explore.”

Since its launch in 2019, Norwegian’s Giving Joy program has garnered nearly 61,000 nominations, awarded over 270 educators with vacations, and donated over $515,000 to schools through the support of NCL’s partners.

“Travel brings so much excitement and rejuvenation,” said Nancy Altimore, a 2024 Giving Joy winner from Pembroke Pines Charter High School in Florida. “Being part of the NCL Giving Joy program was an amazing experience. I felt pampered and appreciated for doing something I love – teaching. It was an honor to receive such a thoughtful gift.”

The Grand Prize winners will embark on a journey aboard Norwegian Luna, set to debut in Spring 2026. As a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua, Norwegian Luna will feature an innovative Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid waterslide and roller coaster, plus exclusive dining and entertainment options such as Sukhothai, a Thai specialty restaurant, and Planterie, the plant-based eatery at Indulge Food Hall. Norwegian Luna will offer seven-day Eastern Caribbean sailings from Miami, visiting destinations like Puerto Plata, Tortola, St. Thomas, and NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay.

“Being recognized by NCL’s Giving Joy program was such an inspiring experience. It’s great to know that teaching is valued in such a meaningful way,” Altimore added.
