(NEWS) ABERDEEN, Scotland, 2025-Sep-17 — /Travel PR News/ — Aberdeen International Airport is teaming up with Sport Aberdeen and AberNecessities to host Jet Set Spin, a groundbreaking fundraising event set to take place on Friday, September 26. Believed to be the first of its kind in Europe, the event will see well-known figures from the North East take part in a spin class directly on the airport’s airfield, beside a live runway where aircraft and helicopters will continue to operate. Running from 12:30 to 16:00, the event combines fitness, adrenaline, and philanthropy, with each participant aiming to raise £1,000 to support AberNecessities and Sport Aberdeen’s SPACE programme, which helps children and young people across the region.

The Jet Set Squad features a diverse mix of participants, including TV and radio personality Laura Anderson, reality star Sarah Gillanders, business leaders, charity representatives, and Aberdeen International Airport’s own Head of Operations, Robert Paterson. They will pedal against the dramatic backdrop of planes taking off and landing, creating a truly one-of-a-kind setting for community fundraising. Leaders from both AberNecessities and Sport Aberdeen emphasized the importance of the event, noting that funds raised will go toward supporting families affected by poverty and ensuring more young people can experience the benefits of physical activity. With its bold concept and high-profile participants, Jet Set Spin aims to unite the local community while generating vital resources for two causes making a tangible difference in children’s lives.

Aberdeen International Airport also recently hosted its sixth annual Midnight Runway Run in partnership with CHC Helicopter, drawing nearly 400 participants for a 4km challenge along the illuminated runway. The event raised £65,000 in support of AberNecessities and Fersands and Fountain, charities that provide vital assistance to disadvantaged families in the region. Widely embraced as a highlight of the airport’s community calendar, the Runway Run combined a striking setting with strong local participation, generous sponsorship, and volunteer support. The funds raised will directly help provide essentials for children and strengthen family services, further underscoring the airport’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and charitable initiatives.
