More than 200 attend, including CLIA’s new CEO
Washington, DC, USA, 2019-Mar-08 — /Travel PR News/ — The third annual Executive Partner Conference, hosted by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) at the end of February, attracted more than 200 participants taking part in the interactive event, including 45 decision-makers from 18 cruise line brands.
The conference was held at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in central London, and the iconic building provided attendees with a unique space for conference sessions, break out discussions and networking. This year’s theme was Designing the Cruise Industry of the Future.
Keynote speakers included social psychologist Thimon de Jong, with insights on how to future-proof your business strategy; plus CLIA’s new CEO Kelly Craighead offered first impressions of the cruise sector since taking up the role at the beginning of 2019.
A panel session on day two, moderated by CLIA Europe Secretary General Tom Boardley, highlighted the industry’s climate ambitions, comprising speakers from the International Maritime Organization, International Chamber of Shipping, Shell Downstream LNG and Carnival Corp. & plc.
Bo Nylandsted Larsen, CLIA’s Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, said: “I am delighted with the positive response to our London event. We had an incredibly diverse range of cruise lines and partners, representing all sectors of the cruise industry, coming together to share ideas on new ways of working together.”
Tine Oelmann, Director Destination Management & Operations, TUI Cruises, commented: “Good event, good location, good talks, great moderators! I have joined nearly all CLIA summits from the very beginning and I can see how this event has developed in a very positive way throughout the years.”
Alessandro Maccari, Head of Marine Research and Development, RINA, added: “The CLIA Executive Partner Conference 2019 is an event which stands out for partner appreciation and networking opportunities. I lived the event from multiple privileged positions – as moderator, speaker, invited expert – and pumping adrenaline when “pitching” my Future Cruise Design session in 60 seconds.
“Brilliant organization and dynamic programme, blended with continuous opportunities for building professional interactions. Sophisticated venue and friendly atmosphere, shaken not stirred. As simple as that. Looking forward to the next.”
The next CLIA Executive Partner event will be Business on The Bay, an evening networking reception to be held at the Mondrian South Beach in Miami on April 8 prior to Seatrade Cruise Global.
