(PRESS RELEASE) HONG KONG, 2025-Aug-1 — /Travel PR News/ — Mandarin Oriental will unveil its first urban resort in Northwestern China with the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Xi’an in 2029. Situated in the ancient heart of the former dynastic capital—home to the Terracotta Warriors—the development promises a harmonious fusion of Tang Dynasty–inspired design and contemporary luxury, spotlighting wellness, cultural storytelling, and elevated tranquility.

Set on a vast landscaped estate beside a new public park, the resort features 166 guest rooms and suites—each with private terraces, panoramic views, and natural hot-spring experiences—alongside seven standalone villas with their own pools and terraces. Guests will enjoy five distinctive restaurants, a 1,200 m² ballroom with outdoor terraces, indoor and outdoor children’s facilities, a culture gallery, library, boutique, and entertainment venues.

The centerpiece, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, will offer signature treatments in immersive hot-spring pavilions, complemented by a 50-metre indoor-outdoor infinity pool, children’s pool, and bespoke wellness rituals. ACPV ARCHITECTS—renowned for their work on Mandarin Oriental Bodrum and Milan—leads the hotel’s understated, nature-driven architecture and interiors, reflecting Xi’an’s seasonal and cultural tapestry.

Laurent Kleitman, Group CEO, commented, “This urban retreat in Xi’an honours the city’s historic grandeur while raising the bar for wellness and cultural immersion. It aligns perfectly with our China expansion strategy and our decade-long vision of growing in iconic leisure destinations.” Xudong Zi, General Manager of developer Xi’an Wolong Real Estate, added, “Backed by the Qujiang Government, this partnership will create a landmark that celebrates Xi’an’s heritage and natural beauty, setting a new benchmark for experiential travel in China.”
