Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas to Showcase Large-Scale Murals by Emerging Regional Artists

(NEWS) MIAMI, FL, 2026-Feb-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Royal Caribbean is expanding its Artist Discovery Program on board its newest Icon Class ship, Legend of the Seas, creating more opportunities for emerging artists from across the Caribbean and, for the first time, Central America to have their work showcased to a global audience at sea. Based on details shared in the company’s official announcement, the initiative forms part of the cruise line’s broader effort to integrate culture and destination storytelling into the guest experience while supporting local creative communities.

Launching submissions from February 10 through March 1, the program will select a new cohort of artists to create large-scale murals in six high-profile areas on board Legend of the Seas — an increase from four locations on previous vessels. According to Royal Caribbean, the commissioned works will be displayed in spaces including the Royal Promenade, the embarkation area, the Suite Sundeck Lobby and the Suite Sundeck, ensuring high visibility for both guests and crew throughout the ship.

Royal Caribbean has positioned the expansion as a way to deepen the cultural authenticity of its onboard environments. In official comments, the company’s leadership highlighted the importance of connecting vacationers with the artistic identities of the destinations the brand visits, framing the murals as a way to bring the “rhythm and vibrance” of the Caribbean and Central America into the ship’s public spaces.

The next group of selected artists will follow in the footsteps of creators whose work has already appeared on Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, as well as at Royal Caribbean’s Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, where the program focused exclusively on Bahamian talent. The Legend of the Seas iteration broadens that geographic scope, reflecting Royal Caribbean’s growing footprint across the region.

The program’s expansion coincides with Legend of the Seas’ inaugural deployment. The ship is scheduled to offer 7-night Western Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia) in summer 2026 before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale in November for Caribbean itineraries that include stops in Aruba, Curaçao and Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

By embedding locally inspired artwork into the fabric of its newest ship, Royal Caribbean is signalling how creative programming can function alongside entertainment, dining and destinations as a core component of its family-focused vacation offering.
