Estepona, Spain, 2019-Oct-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Kempinski Hotel Bahía will celebrate its annual Christmas Market and Lighting of the diamond Christmas Tree on the 30 November, with a little help from Father Christmas!
Presiding over the whole event is the 5 meter tall Christmas tree*, which will be decorated by Debbie Wingham Diamond Designer. The tree will be adorned with EUR 11 million worth of jewels and precious metals and be unveiled at 18:00, when its lights are turned on by Father Christmas. Debbie is a world famous haute couture designer turned couture cake designer who has created some of the world’s most exclusive couture cakes, decorated with jewels and valued at over 15 million dollars. Debbie’s celebrity clients include Katy Perry, Drake and Justin Bieber, so this year she will be bringing extra sparkle to the festive season.
Various decorations on the tree will be adorned with real diamonds and jewels, all handcrafted by Debbie’s artisan contacts and jewellery makers. The decorations take inspiration from the newly designed lobby at Kempinski Hotel Bahía, which exudes influences of art deco and colonial design. The deep blues and contrasting golden colours of the sofas mix with reflective glass and wooden fittings.
This year, as with each year, the market promises to be an exciting day from start to finish, opening from 12:00 till 20:00. There will be a selection of handcrafted artisan items; gourmet products such as wine and olive oils; traditional seasonal sweets such as Stollen and cakes; mulled wine and hot chocolate; and an abundance of festive spirit. As well as that, there will be the life-size gingerbread house; a visit from Father Christmas to receive all the children’s letters; choirs; and, of course, the traditional switching on of the Christmas tree lights.
The now traditional life-sized Gingerbread House* will be on display as well. Created each year by our pastry chef Malika, the house takes over 3 weeks to create by hand, and this years creation will stand at over 2.4 meters tall and it will be displayed in the lobby. During the Christmas Market Father Christmas will also be seated at the Gingerbread House, waiting to receive and hear all the children’s Christmas wishes.
Meanwhile, there will be two choirs singing during the day: one, a children’s choir, and the second, an adult’s choir. Both will perform all the traditional Spanish carols and festive songs, for the crowds.
The event is a charitable one, where all proceeds collected from the rental of the stalls are donated to a local charity, along with the donations from the mulled wine sold at the entrance. There will also be Kempinski’s traditional Sweets Stall, where the pastry kitchen provides all the freshly made items to raise funds for charity.
To celebrate the Lavish Diamond Christmas Tree, the hotel will host a “Diamonds and Champagne” Evening on 28 December, with an exquisite cocktail dinner, and one lucky guest will walk away with a diamond worth over EUR 2,500. Each guest will be handed a Champagne Glass on arrival, and at the bottom of each glass there will be a diamond. However, just one of the diamonds is real! A certified gemmologist will move through the crowd and view each diamond until the real one is found!
On 1 December, Kempinski Hotel will host its Christmas Bakery Sunday from 11:00 to 13:00, where attendees can learn how to make the perfect Stollen bread with a traditional recipe from our general manager’s mother in Germany, along with traditional Spanish treats by our pastry chef and the executive chef’s own recipes, passed down through the generations. And, of course, you can take your delights home with you, or opt to have a coffee in the bar after the event to taste them. This is the perfect family morning out. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. The cost is EUR 25 per person.
*The Lavish Diamond Christmas Tree and Gingerbread House will remain on display till 6 January.
