Indianapolis International Airport launches new Global Entry kiosks

Program another reason Indy airport is Best Airport in North America

INDIANAPOLIS, 2018-Mar-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Passengers arriving from international destinations at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) may now spend less time in customs processing, as the Indianapolis Airport Authority and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection launch new Global Entry kiosks — just in time for the airport’s inaugural nonstop transatlantic flight to Paris.

The airport will establish two kiosks that will move low-risk, pre-approved international travelers through customs more quickly, saving them valuable time. The kiosks will be in place two months inside the airport terminal ahead of the airport’s first nonstop transatlantic flight to Paris.

“People ask me frequently how we continue to be named the best airport in North America, and I tell them it’s this type of service-minded thinking – it’s listening to travelers, scouting what’s available, designing and adopting new programs,” said Mario Rodriguez, IAA executive director. “It’s that culmination of being service minded that allows the airport’s public value to be realized through the passenger experience.”

Passengers on Southwest Airlines – which just recently launched the company’s first international flight from Indianapolis to Cancun – can enjoy this expediated feature when arriving back in Indianapolis. Delta Air Lines and Vacation Express also offer seasonal nonstop service to Cancun. In addition, travelers on the Vacation Express flight from Punta Cana can participate in the Global Entry program.

Global Entry members also qualify for the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program, providing expedited TSA screenings for domestic travel to any one of the 51 nonstop destinations out of Indianapolis. The Indy airport aims to reduce the pre- and post-travel screening times, allowing passengers to more quickly begin their vacation time, or business matters.

Having recently been named the Best Airport in North America for the sixth year in a row, the Indy airport has its focus on providing superior customer service, in all aspect of air travel.

“We are very excited to offer Global Entry Kiosks to low-risk international travelers arriving in Indianapolis,” said James Moore, CBP Port Director Indianapolis. “This valuable program expedites CBP processing, reduces wait times, and benefits the traveling public and the local business community.”

While the goal of Global Entry is to speed travelers through the process, members may be selected for further examination when entering the United States. Any violation of the program’s terms and conditions will result in appropriate enforcement action and loss of a traveler’s membership privileges.

The program’s membership is good for five years. Applications must be completed and submitted online through the Trusted Traveler Program. A non-refundable $100 per person application fee is payable on-line at the time of the application.
