IHG won nine awards at 2013 TTG China Travel Awards

2013-05-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — IHG, the largest international hotel company by number of rooms in China, received nine awards at TTG China Travel Awards presented by TTG Publishing, the leading industry publication in Asia Pacific.  These awards demonstrate the industry-wide recognition of IHG and its brands’ long dedication to China market and its consistent best-in-class performance.

For the third consecutive year, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts was named the Best Mid-range Hotel Brand in Greater China. Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts was the very first international hotel brand to establish a presence in China market, and had just celebrated its 60th anniversary worldwide in 2012 with the opening of the 60th hotel in Greater China. Winning this prestigious award is a further illustration of its position as the No. 1 hotel brand and the most widely-recognised international hotel brand in China.

Eight hotels representing four IHG brands also stood out amid fierce competition and were crowned as leaders in their own market segment by winning in various categories:

  • Holiday Inn Resort Changbaishan – Best New Resort in China
  • Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund – Best Boutique Hotel in China
  • Holiday Inn Guangzhou Shifu – Best Mid-range Hotel in Guangzhou
  • Holiday Inn Macau – Best Mid-range Hotel in Macau
  • InterContinental Shenzhen – Best Meetings & Conventions Hotel in Shenzhen
  • Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East – Best New Hotel in Hong Kong
  • InterContinental Foshan – Best Hotel in Central South China
  • InterContinental Century City Chengdu – Best Hotel in Southwest China

“We are thrilled that our commitment to providing an excellent guest experience across all our brands is again recognised by our peers and industry colleagues,” said Jolyon Bulley, Chief Operating Officer, IHG Greater China. “As the industry leader, we continuously challenge ourselves to set ever higher service standards for the hospitality industry.”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of IHG in China. As the first international hotel group to enter China in 1984, IHG’s current portfolio includes 190 hotels in operation and another 169 in the development pipeline.  The six IHG brands currently in China – InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Express and HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts – are dedicated to bringing value to a wide variety of guests and have become popular with local customers in their respective target demographics.

“The awards not only acknowledge the work of our brands and hotels, they also recognise the work of our dedicated teams and serve as encouragement for them to do even better,” Jolyon Bulley added.

TTG China Travel Awards recognise the highest performing travel and tourism organisations as voted for by more than 38,000 readers of TTG China, TTG Asia, TTGmice and TTG-BTmice China. As TTG’s readership consists primarily of fellow trade professionals so winners are considered to comprise the finest in China’s travel and tourism sector, and the results also objectively reflect mainstream traveller’s choices and needs.
